How This Tool Works

Our tool provides exact HEX color codes for Pantone colors. Simply enter a Pantone color name or code, and we'll show you the corresponding HEX value, along with RGB values and similar colors. This tool is perfect for digital designers who need to match Pantone colors in their web projects.

Technical Details

The conversion process follows these precise steps:

  1. Pantone Color Lookup: When you enter a Pantone color code, we search our comprehensive database of Pantone colors to find the exact match.
  2. RGB Value Extraction: Each Pantone color in our database has pre-calculated RGB values that have been carefully calibrated to match the physical Pantone swatches as closely as possible in the digital space.
  3. RGB to HEX Conversion: The RGB values are converted to hexadecimal format using the formula:HEX = #RRGGBB
where RR = red value in hex (00-FF)
GG = green value in hex (00-FF)
BB = blue value in hex (00-FF)
  4. Similar Color Detection: We calculate the color distance between your selected Pantone color and other colors in our database to find visually similar alternatives, using the Euclidean distance formula in RGB space.

This process ensures accurate and consistent color conversion from the Pantone color system to digital HEX codes, while accounting for the inherent differences between physical and digital color spaces.

What is Pantone?

Pantone is the global authority for professional color standards. Their Pantone Matching System (PMS) provides a standardized color reproduction system used across industries worldwide. Each Pantone color has a unique identifier and formula, ensuring consistent color reproduction in both digital and physical mediums.

What is HEX?

HEX color codes are six-digit combinations of numbers and letters that represent specific colors in digital design. Starting with a '#' symbol, these codes define colors using red, green, and blue values (RGB). HEX codes are widely used in web design, digital art, and software development to ensure color consistency across different platforms and devices.
